Description Salary Range: $56,000-$61,000/year Position Summary: Children's Aid's The P2 Project (The Pregnancy Prevention Project) aims to reduce and prevent the incidence of unintended adolescent pregnancy in Children's Aid's priority areas in NYC by providing young people with the holistic tools to meet their greatest potentials through evidence-based sexuality education, comprehensive reproductive health services, and peer health education. The main objectives of the program are:

1. Provide comprehensive, age appropriate, sexuality health education for adolescents (11 - 22).
2. Provide strategies for young people to make healthy decisions and set goals for the future.
3. Connect youth to reproductive health services.
4. Encourage youth/adult partnerships and effective communication.
5. Create and foster community and organizational partnerships to reduce the incidence of unintended adolescent pregnancy in our communities.

Under the supervision of the Program Manager of the OPA Pregnancy Prevention Program, the Senior Health Educator will be responsible for the implementation of comprehensive sexual health education and outreach activities of the OPA Pregnancy Prevention Program and the Just Ask Me (JAM) Peer Education Program. The Senior Health Educator will recruit and engage foster care youth, adjudicated youth, and school-based youth, as well as parents and guardians, by conducting outreach and facilitating workshops. The Senior Health Educator will also be in charge of training and supporting foster care agency staff members and school-based staff members in facilitating sexual health topics and implementation of evidence -based curricula specifically for their population of youth. The Senior Health Educator will work closely with other team members to ensure that health education materials are engaging and age-appropriate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Establish collaborative relationships with CA staff and staff at other foster care agencies to develop and implement recruitment and engagement strategies for their adolescents. Facilitate evidence-based curricula to fidelity and document outcomes in sessions in all selected settings Schedule and facilitate the Power Through Choices curriculum and other educational supplemental workshops for youth and staff in CA foster care Programs and Foster Care partner agencies, according to work plan goals Evaluate, update, and maintain curriculum and supplemental workshops on pregnancy prevention and reproductive health topics utilizing best practices for engagement of adolescents and evidence-based curricula. Facilitate the referral of sexually active youth identified through the program to family planning services provided at CA family planning health centers and partner health care agencies. Monitor and track the outcomes of all referrals for family planning services. Assist in recruiting, interviewing, training and retaining peer educators Collaborate with the CA Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention program (CAPP) on peer education outreach activities Provide one on one health education for youth that need additional information and support outside of workshop and event spaces Collect, enter, and maintain accurate data related to program activities. Submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports of the activities and outcomes Represent agency at health fairs and other outreach events, as needed. Research and attend relevant professional development trainings Perform other duties as needed.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree preferred in health education, public administration, social work or a related field with 2-3 years of related experience with adolescents and reproductive health education OR -Associates Degree with 4-5 years of related experience with adolescents and reproductive health education Experience working with youth in foster care and/or adjudicated youth preferred Reliable, dependable, and organized Excellent oral and written communication skills Emotional maturity with good decision making skills Computer literate Must be able to work some evenings and Saturdays Must be able to travel to multiple sites throughout NYC Bilingual English/Spanish a plus Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Statement It is the policy of Children's Aid to provide equal employment opportunity to all employees and applicants for employment and is dedicated to maintaining a work environment that is free from harassment and discrimination.
