Position Overview

DCG is seeking an experienced Strategic Communications professional to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Digital Health Office (DHO) and its initiatives to provide innovative health solutions for Veterans and their care teams. This is a unique opportunity to directly improve the efficacy of healthcare delivery to our nation's Veterans, and requires a person who is deeply committed to transforming federal programs through strategic communications and change initiatives. This executive-level communicator will facilitate crisis communication and field engagement support for the DHO, playing a key role in both internal and external deliverables.

Location

This is a hybrid role with a strong preference for candidates located within the Washington, DC Metro area who can attend in-person meetings as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Manage communications associated with major change initiatives
  • Collaborate with senior and executive-level federal leadership to calibrate project requirements, present plans, share status updates, and earn trust in providing strategic communications support
  • Develop and execute integrated communications plans through digital and traditional media, including planning timelines, determining relevant deliverables, and identifying measurements of success
  • Contribute as needed to key deliverables such as press releases, presentations, social media, talking points, newsletters, web copy, and fact sheets
  • Ensure continuity of messaging across initiatives and in alignment with Department style guides
  • Design and lead various virtual events for DHO including bi-monthly town halls, webinars, and other key events as needed
  • Support development and implementation of communication efforts that inform DHO initiatives and digital health goals
  • Support development and maintenance of knowledge systems and intranet sites
  • Facilitate client calls, as needed and develop professional relationships with client contacts ensuring all action items are captured and work is moving efficiently and meeting team standards
  • This role may require some domestic travel
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • 6 years' experience in stakeholder assessment and field engagement and execution at the executive level, including exceptional written communication skills
  • Demonstrated VA field experience, along with internal and external communication experience in VA health care (EHRM, MAHSO, ICR, DHO)
  • Knowledge and experience delivering executive communications for VHA programs
  • Experience in healthcare innovation related activities with knowledge of project operations and developing procedures, planning and direct execution of the technical, programming, maintenance and administrative support efforts
  • Experience with managing healthcare innovation projects with a focus on clinical and operational outcomes
  • Knowledge of human-centered design and digital product management
  • Ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously while effectively managing deadlines and communicating across internal and external teams
  • Change management communication and strategy experience strongly desired, to include familiarity with ADKAR methodology
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills across teams and mediums (written, verbal, presentations, short-form, etc.)
  • Ability to seamlessly own project management of assigned tasks and workstreams
